My family have been members of Christ's Church for 16 years, and we have raised five children here. For the past three years, it has been my joy to direct the spiritual formation programs for youth and families at Christ's.
Building a true faith community is a critical element of the programming we offer. Just two examples are our Sunday School class that two- and three-year olds attend with their parents, and our confirmation class, where parents are class assistants and the students choose mentors within the congregation. We delight in getting all ages together for a variety of intergenerational social, learning, and service events throughout the year. We want our church to be a place where families are nurtured and supported, and where people of every generation find friends to accompany them on their faith walk.
Here are two websites I recommend that offer different kinds of daily inspiration:
Barbara Crafton, an Episcopal minister and very gifted writer, sends out daily "E-mos"--profound and delightful thoughts on scripture and life, that can be received via e-mail. Subscribe to the e-mos by visiting her website: www.geraniumfarm.org
Marla Tilley (a.k.a. "The Fly Lady") was overwhelmed by her attempts to manage job, family, and keeping her house reasonably in order. Now she has a system that works! Her email reminders are practical, upbeat daily tips for a happier, more peaceful home. Subscribe by visiting www.flylady.net
